Horniman Museum

Updated: Aug 28, 2024

We took our residents on a trip to the Horniman Museum in South London. The younger children were excited, and the adults were equally intrigued by the museum's grand and inviting exterior.

We started with the Natural History Gallery, which the children were shocked to see the famous overstuffed walrus that dominated the room. Some of the kids ran ahead, trying to identify animals in the various displays, while the adults took a slower pace, pausing to read the informative plaques to learn about more about each display.

Later we visited the Music Gallery, where we saw an impressive array of musical instruments from all over the world. The children were eager to try out the interactive displays, where they could create their own music while the adults explored the collection. Some of our residents started to reminisce about their own musical experience which became a joyful storytelling conversation.

Our residents had a fantastic time at the Horniman Museum which became an enriching experience that was both educational and fun as it blended our culture and history together.
