Empowering Young Minds
Thank you to all the residents who attended our workshop. It was a huge success!
We partnered with Parents Skills 2 Go and L&Q to host a workshop at The Hub for young residents aged 8-17 years old. The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with around 35 young residents and give them a glimpse into the world of Axis and the work we do.
Our Contract Manger, Tanya began with an informative site tour as well as providing insights into the ongoing and upcoming work on site. She also shared stories about the various career paths within our team and highlighted how apprenticeships can be a valuable way to earn while you learn – a message that resonated with many of our young residents.
We also held a special Question & Answer session with Taydia, who is currently on placement at Axis through a scholarship program with L&Q. She spoke about her journey, balancing university studies with hands-on experience at Axis, and how the support she received has shaped her career aspirations. Her story left a lasting impression on our young residents, demonstrating the benefits of pursuing educational and professional opportunities.
The workshop also included a hands-on activity designed to build essential soft skills where our Community Co-ordinator, Vera and HR Administrator, Chloe led a session where our young residents were divided into groups of five and tasked with building a bridge out of newspaper and cello tape. This fun challenge, encouraged teamwork, communication, problem-solving, time management, and leaderships skills that are crucial in any career.
By the end of the day, the young residents left with more than just knowledge about Axis and our work; they gained valuable skills and inspiration for their future careers.
We hope to see our young residents working at Axis in the future! Find out more about our apprenticeships here:
